We love the MN State Fair!

It is officially the Cobb family loves the Get Minnesota Get-Together.  And man, we take it seriously!  We get-together!  This is the third year (or fourth?) that we have been together for the fair.  And there are no plans to quit either!  Yea!

Are you wondering where they are and what they are looking at?

Our first stop (at 10am) was at the diary bar to pick up goodies and to see the butter busts.  Do you know that each of these ladies take their butter bust home with them?  What would you do with your butter bust?  By the way, after telling the kids they could have anything they wanted, Madelyn got a strawberry milk and Greyson got a yogurt while I got a blackberry sundae. Hmmmm......

I really thought these guys were cool with their well-behaved rabbits.  It was fun to watch them keep them from hopping off.

Hee-haw.

Love these ladies!

Climbing up the fire tower which was built special for the fair as a demonstration of what fire towers were like before air patrol.

For once, I'm the tan one. (Love you, sis)

Greyson getting his cruising on.

A family shot - I love everything about this pic but I especially love Greyson's hand on his hip since that is definitely his thing right now.  It cracks us up!  And look how big and grown up my girl is.... when did that happen?

The wacky wheeler.

A great day at the fair!

Two very different outings - PICS ADDED!

Last Saturday, my parents and my sister were in town. The original reason for the visit?  The Great Minnesota Get-Together (aka, the MN State Fair). Ahhhh.... I love the fair. I would show you pictures but sadly I forgot my camera and forgot to ask my parents and sister for some of their pictures. Oh well. If I get any, I'll have to add them later.  We like to start early and were there by about 8am and started with mini-donuts for breakfast - melt in your mouth yumminess.  Then we headed to the barns (mostly because everything else was closed) and the sheep barn came first.  We got to see some sheared and unsheared and a lady sheep get inseminated by a boy one.... all very interesting fair fare.  Oddly, they were showing and judging rabbits in the sheep barn... we had never seen rabbits at the state fair before, so this was a first.  We looked at all the different kinds and liked them, that is until Greyson's eyes started to itch and water.  We left that barn soon after that.  Next was the oink barn, where oddly they were showing and judging sheep.... still we love seeing the baby oinkers and the largest sow.  Cheese curds (okay) and scottish eggs (YUM!) followed.  As we made our way to the Art Building, we listened and danced to a big band.  We have been interested in buying art in the Art Building but everything we are interested in is sold by the time we get there.  Maybe next year we'll go on the first Thursday instead.  Next were Pronto Pups and then sadly (since there was so much left undone!) and excitedly, my mom, my sister and I left to do something totally different!

Wedding Dress Shopping! So much fun to help my sis try on so many different kinds of dresses and see her light up with excitement when one looks almost perfect on her!  The next few months are going to be full of wedding planning since Liz, as an accountant, won't be able to work on it much from January to April. I'm pretty excited....

Additional State Fair Outing 2009

This is a Saturday outing to the State Fair and was ONLY done out of love for family! Too CrAzY for us! We did have fun though (and all took naps when we got home!).

PS - we were also able to meet Liz's boyfriend's parents and godparents during this trip to the fair. They were a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to potentially spending more time with them in the future.

MN State Fair 2008

The Great Minnesota Get-Together is one of our favorite things of living in Minnesota! We have so much fun going every year! Ben and I have gone almost every year we have lived here. If you know Ben, you'll know that it must be special if he is willing to take a day of vacation to go. We choose to do that though because the weekends at the fair are CrAzY!!! The streets are jammed packed and it is a feat to move from one venue to another.... not us. So, we usually go on Tuesday and love how the crowd is a little more subdued. Ben's and my favorite stops are the arts & crafts building, the agriculture building, the diary barn, the baa barn, the moo barn, the oink barn, and the crazy-looking chickens, This year's visit we were "forced" to cut back on our annual favorites to give the kids some fun too! So, we added the Little Farmer Hands farm and Kidway to the mix. It was all fun!! Ben even got to do his favorite thing this year - the sky glider!!

Btw, if you want to read a great commentary about the fair and see some truly awesome pictures, go to Tracy's blog.

Feeding Greyson's love of trucks and tractors

A stop by Kidway - Madelyn LOVED it!

What do you do when your legs get tired?

Petting the sheep
Checking out a month-old cow

The highlight of Ben's day - the Sky Glider!

PS - I know that this post is about 3 months late, but better late than never is what I say!
