Part on order... should be here in 7-10 DAYS!
Update: The part came and it still doesn't work... now to decide to be real engineers and troubleshoot and fix it ourselves or just call the service guy (that Ben swears will know just as much as we do). All I know is that the drying clothes decor we've got going in the basement is a little too eclectic for my taste. :)

Oh boy - fun times at the Rhodes house! I'm sorry... that's gotta suck. But hey, it'll safe the environment a little bit, right? Love you guys!
FROM AUNT LOU
Hey Mel, These pictures make me laugh and bring back memories. For the first 4 years that I was married, we didn't have a washer or dryer and I had to go to the laundromat. Then we saved up enough money to buy a washer. Since we had a clothes line in the yard, I was set. At that time we lived in WV and so in winter, my house looked a lot like your photos. I sometimes hung them outside to freeze dry, but I was frozen myself after hanging out and bringing in the laundry.
Would you believe that by the time Catherine went to Tech, I still did not have a dryer? After moving further south, I soon got used to hanging laundry out and rather enjoyed it. I always prayed while I was out at the clothes line (Don't laugh, I was appropriately fervant!!) Anyway, a friend was moving away in 1996 and had a gas dryer that she couldn't use in her new home and gave it to me. I discovered that it was really wonderful. Don't know now how I ever did without it, but my carbon foot print is noticeably smaller because of all those years of no dryer, so I'm entitled to some big splurge somewhere in the world of "greenness"! I still hang out my sheets, love the way they smell. So enjoy your "little house on the prairie" moment and be proud of your coping skills. Love you, Aunt Lou
Oh, that is funny, I'm sorry to say! Reminds me of living overseas. Without a dryer (or a washer, come to think of it), but also without a family. Made it a little easier!
Oh, sweetie - just what you needed - more challenges. Not! I'm sorry. Several times over the years we've lost a dryer, or a washer (generally in the middle of a wet load) and it is really a pain. I'm glad you can make light of it - good for you! Mom
I'm SOOOO sorry. I lived without a washer for five weeks this summer, so I know what a total bummer that has to be! Let me know how the trouble shooting goes... THAT brings back childhood memories for me!
Just so you all know. The dryer was fixed just after New Year's. Whew. Ben decided to work on it himself. He did an amazing job diagnosing and repairing the problem. The broken pary wasn't even a part that was described in the manual! No ladies, you can't have him. He's MINE!
