Reap what you sow

To be honest, this year I have had limited success with the garden. I guess that is when I compare it to previous years. For instance, I planted whole lines of onions, carrots, and green beans, expecting 12 plants or more each and even though I've had some results, I haven't had the results that I have come to expect. The onions stopped growing early (I don't know enough about onions yet to know why) and the carrots and green beans only gave me 3 or 4 plants each. If I'm really honest with myself though, I could have corrected all these "problems" early though but my gardening motivation was also not up to what I've come to expect. You do, truly, reap what you sow!

"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galations 6:7-10

Okay, so God is not exactly talking about my lack of motivation to garden... but He probably is talking about my waning motivation to do some other things He HAS called me to.

In the meantime, I sowed about 40 seeds in the spring and have reaped only four carrots. But they are beautifully HUGE carrots... God does great things even when I'm not motivated.

I love it. I tried to plant tomatoes this past spring and I wanted to wait to pick them when they were juicy red. However, my dog decided to become a vegetarian and ate all but 1. The one I did eat was amazing. Thinking fence next year!
