Ben and I thought that it was a good first attempt but that I should probably lighten up on the wasabi! Tracy, I'll make you sushi sometime if you make me fondue sometime. Deal?
Oh, wow.. that looks soooo yummy! So, did you put the wasabi in the rolls? And how do you make the ginger??? I hope you enjoyed it. You HAVE to make some for us the next time we're there for a visit!!
Chris, I've been waiting for you to find this! Yeah, I put the wasabi in the rolls but I'm not sure I'll do it that way again. Too much. I think if I can tone it down some (maybe with some mayo?) then I could but not straight. You seer that bottle of pink stuff in the second picture? Totally the asian store-bought ginger. Ben and I discussed trying to pickle it but then we'd have to use it much more quickly without the preservatives. And for 4 bucks I got a big bottle of it. I will definitely make some for you! This summer? Maybe at your house? BTW, I tried making some for the kids, even with hot dog slices in it. It's been a no-go so far. How many times should you give it to them before you know they *really* don't like it? :)
Mel, the sushi looks really good, but please leave out the wasabi for me. My first time to try sushi, I thought the wasabi was a big hunk of avocado like guacamole or some such. Popped the whole clump in my mouth, thought I was going to die!!! The little Asian server was trying to tell me "no", but couldn't get the words out soon enough. It was bad, I'm telling you BAD!! Saturday evening, John and I got in the mood for sushi and went to the Brookshire's grocery store in our neighborhood. As we were standing IN LINE waiting for our turn to order, I said to John, "Can you believe we're in West Monroe, LA, ordering sushi from the grocery store?" But you know what? - it was really good and fresh. So for me, Brookshire's will be my sushi source until you come for a visit. :-) Love you all, Aunt Lou

Two. After that, believe me, they really don't like it. I promise.
