However, after 10 years of this, I KNOW that this is just the "up" on the winter/spring transition rollercoaster and that putting away the winter coats, mittens, and hats would be foolish. We must keep them out for at least a couple more weeks.... But today, today was a long-awaited, beautiful day!

Spring...is it for real or just a tease?
It was 65 degrees and beautiful(!) and we just HAD to get out and enjoy it. I think every Minnesotan finds their way outside on the first spring-like day of the year. Neighbors get reacquainted, bikes get pulled out, sidewalks and street shoulders are filled with people going for walks... it is an event!

From Aunt Lou:
Melissa, I well remember the gloriousness of Spring, after the snow melted away when we were living in WV. It seems so fresh and clean, the air just smells better than Spring in a warmer climate like here in LA. However, I'm sure you remember that Spring in No. LA has a gloriousness all its' own. Today, during my prayer and meditation time, I could hardly contain myself from going out doors in my night clothes. It suddenly makes me want to become a gardener and I actually hate yard work. (Because for 6 months of the year, it is too hot!!) Anyway, I journaled these verses today in honor of the lovliness outdoors. "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture." Ps. 100:1-3 I love sheep, first of all because they are lovely and seemingly gentle creatures. I love the picture of Christ as our shepherd and since we are often described as sheep in Scripture; I have a particular fondness for them. The words peace and pasture are appealing and I like to think of the baby lambs scampering around at this time of year. Here in LA, the pastures are not often filled with lambs, but in TX, you can see large herds pastured in pretty places and it gives me peace and pleasure. Sorry about this long post. I just got carried away reading about your own personal celebration of Spring. Love, Aunt Lou
