Who needs training wheels?

Wow.... this last couple of weeks have a been full of milestones. I don't know exactly what has motivated my kids (or was me that was somehow motivated?). The newest milestone - Madelyn is riding her bike WITHOUT training wheels! I am amazed at how well she is doing AND at how easy it was to teach her. She has a couple of friends that have them off and I think she felt challenged to get 'er done. I took them off sometime last week and she had gotten some spins around the yard several times with us jogging with her. But today! Today she "got it"! It is amazing the difference between how she was riding yesterday and today. I think I backed off more today and was letting her figure it out more on her own (in the grass at first). Over the last couple of years, that is something I have figured out about this girl. She needs her own space and ownership in something before she'll really put her mind to it. (Sounds a lot like someone else I know.... me.) Now she is speeding around the front yard like it is no biggie and wants to graduate to our back street. Maybe tomorrow we'll try that out.

I am adding this picture of Greyson mostly to give you a visualization of the biggest issue we had with Madelyn learning to ride her bike today. He wanted to be right in the middle of it! She just about mowed him down once because he was in her path. Madelyn finally figured out that she could steer well enough to miss him - thank God! You can see his beautiful drawings on the driveway, which we decided was a superhero genie. By the way, as an update on Greyson's potty training - He is completely out of diapers during the day! (Again, amazed at how easy it was!)
